This little town, situated at the slopes of the peninsula of Rat, 17 km
southtward of Dubrovnik ,at he vicinitv of the airport, was founded on the
remains of ancient Epidaurum. Today, it is known for its historic and
cultural heritage. It has lots of cultural monuments, wooden landscapes, ancient places and sailors' villas. Along the coast which surrounds Cavtat there is a long
walking path full of palm-threes and sunny little beaches. Cavtat is built on the southern hills of peninsula. In the immediate vicinity of Dubrovnik, in the atmosphere of a pleasant mediterranean climat and vegetation, Cavtat has become the cultural and touristic center of Konavle and has flourished in its gentle beauty.Cavtat is a little town which originated lots of outstanding artists and poets of the region. Apart from Dubrovnik, Cavtat is the cradle of the numerous renaissance poets who cherished the croatian language from the 15th to 17th century, the period of the Republic of Dubrovnik. Thewre was also a number of astonishing builders of churches and cultural monuments of Cavtat.
